Cerebral arteriovenous malformation causing epistaxis.

چکیده
Epistaxis can be life threatening and may not respond to conventional conservative measures such as packing. In our institution, between 1984 and 1991, we have treated 65 patients with embolization who had epistaxis that did not stop with nasal packing, with a success rate of 90%. This case report illustrates an unusual example of epistaxis due to a right frontal arteriovenous malformation (A V M).

Teaching NeuroImages: cerebral arteriovenous malformation in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.
A 41-year-old woman with a history of recurrent epistaxis presented with left hemiplegia, right gaze deviation, and dysarthria. Physical examination confirmed skin and lip telangiectasia (figure 1). Her son had pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Her head CT and cerebral angiography revealed right parietal hemorrhage with parasagittal AVM (figure 2). Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasi...
متن کاملSimulation study of Hemodynamic in Bifurcations for Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation using Electrical Analogy
Background and Objective: Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic is disease condition, results changes in the flow and pressure level in cerebral blood vessels. Measuring flow and pressure without catheter intervention along the vessel is big challenge due to vessel bifurcations/complex bifurcations in Arteriovenous Malformation patients. The vessel geometry in CAVM patients are...
متن کاملLoop Modeling Forward and Feedback Analysis in Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation
Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic in disease condition results changes in the flow and pressure level in blood vessels. Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) is an abnormal shunting of vessels between arteries and veins. It is one of the common Brain disorder. In general, the blood flows of cerebral region are from arteries to veins through capillary bed. This paper is...
متن کاملVessel Deformation Modeling- Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation
Cerebrovascular abnormalities are extremely complex, due to the multitude of factors acting simultaneously on cerebral hemodynamics. Cerebral Arterio Venous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic in one of the vascular abnormality condition results changes in the flow and pressure level in blood vessels. This can cause rupture or decreased blood supply to the tissue through capillary causing infarct. ...

Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia or Rendu-Osler-Weber Disease is a rare fibrovascular dysplasia that makes vascular walls vulnerable to trauma and rupture, causing skin and mucosa bleeding. It is of dominant autosomal inheritance, characterized by recurrent epistaxis and telangiectasia on the face, hands and oral cavity; visceral arteriovenous malformations and positive family history. Epi...
